The Utrechtse Heuvelrug
The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is the highlight in the heart of the Netherlands! The flat province of Utrecht is divided in two by a long chain of hills. It stretches from the Gooimeer near Huizen to the Grebbeberg near Rhenen. The area has many different sub-areas such as the Amerongse Berg, the Austerlitz Heide, Landgoed Broekhuizen, Boswachterij Leersum and the Baarnse Bos. There are several activities to experience in this beautiful nature reserve. In addition, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug is rich in hiking trails that are fun for young and old. Discover for example the Beukenwoud, a majestic beech forest with nice hiking trails. Or walk the Groeneveld Theme Route, where there is an exhibition in the castle and where you can have a nice cup of coffee at Grand Café Groeneveld.
